Neem and Environment: Integration of Neem in Insect Pest Management
Abstract :
Proteins are the important biomolecule for the survival of an organism. They are the main factors for the function and growth of living beings. In the present study, we evaluated the impact of dyeing factory effluent on fresh water fish Labeo rohita on sublethal concentrations. The LC50 value for dyeing factory effluent is 7.63%. The LC50 value shows that even the lower level of effluent concentration can cause lethal effect on fishes. Effect of sub-lethal concentrations of the dyeing factory effluent on biochemical changes was studied on Labeo rohita after 30 days of exposure. Significant changes occured in the contents of protein and enzymes like ALP, ACP and LDH indicating that the dyeing factory effluent causes many ill effects on aquatic organisms, especially fresh water fish, Labeo rohita.
