Influence of EDTA against mercuric chloride induced hepatic
enzymological changes in the fingerlings of Labeo rohita (Ham.)

Abstract :

Totally 1,394 marine actinobacterial colonies were isolated from the soil samples of Palk Strait coastal regions namely Point Calimere (Kodiyakarai), Athirampattinam, Mallipattinam, Manora seashores, Vedharanyam saltpan and Muthupet mangroves, Tamilnadu, India by using four different culture media. Among the 1,394 colonies of actinobacteria, 55 morphologically different colonies were observed based on the colony size, nature, colour of aerial spore mass and reverse side colour, formation of aerial and substrate mycelia, spores/ sporangia on aerial and substrate mycelia. Among the 55 isolates of actinobacteria, Streptomyces was the dominant genera. Among the four different culture media used for the isolation of actinobacteria, starch casein agar (SCA) medium was suitable for the growth of most of the actinobacteria. The soil parameters such as texture, calcium carbonate content, electrical conductivity (EC), pH, organic carbon (OC), available nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu), and cation exchange capacity (CEC) were studied by using the standard methods. Analysis of correlation co-efficient between the physical and chemical parameters of the marine soil samples and total actiobacterial isolates were made.
