Abstract :
A total of 270 specimens of Oreochromis mossambicus were collected from Vadavar river Lower Anicut, South India during December 2009 to August 2010. Qualitiative and quantitative study of gut contents showed that Oreochromis mossambicus strongly selected green algae, blue green algae and diatom as dominant food items throughout the study period. It was also noted that both the juveniles and adults fed predominantly on green algae, blue green algae and diatoms.
