Diversity of bioactive compound producing actinobacteria isolated from natural
disaster affected marine environments
- 1, ,
Populations of marine actinobacteria were surveyed from the coastal soils of Tamilnadu (India) after Indian Ocean tsunami
occurred on December 26, 2004. Totally 72 marine sediment samples were collected. The isolated actinobacteria were
characterized on the basis of the colour of spore mass, reverse side colour, aerial and substrate mycelia formation, production
of diffusible pigment and ssporophore morphology, and screened for their antimicrobial activity
