Industrial pollution on domestic water and the consequent impact on human health.

Abstract :

This paper reports the resource partitioning of bird species in dry deciduous forest in Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu, India. Resource partitioning was apparent among birds in the usage of eight foraging techniques, six substrates and 12 height categories identified in a 10 ha study plot. The major prey attack manoeuvres were sallying, pouncing and gleaning (foliage/wood). Birds showed more consistency in exploiting particular substrates for particular prey than other parameters like foraging method and height. The presence of distinct Lantana camara dominated shrub community resulted in specialization by Blyth's Reed Warbler, Hoopoe, Paradise Flycatcher, and Franklin's Wren-Warbler to exploit only this particular layer for food resources in the dry deciduous habitat.
